Call for ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵCommittee Volunteers for 2025-2027

ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵ

ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵMembers are invited to volunteer for ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵstanding committees for the 2025-2027 term. Serving on an ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵstanding committee provides members with opportunities to:

  • Gain valuable professional development and leadership experience
  • Make an impact on key issues and policies within ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵand librarianship
  • Engage with colleagues from various types of libraries across the nation
  • Build their resume

Members can sign up to volunteer via the online . Please complete and submit the form electronically (be sure to select "ALA" in the drop-down menu on the main form). To be considered for the 2025-2027 term, forms must be submitted no later than October 14, 2024 [please note this is an extended deadline from the originally announced date of September 30, 2024]. Any forms received after this date will be considered for the next term (2026-2028).

ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵPresident-elect Sam Helmick will make committee appointments, in consultation with the Committee on Committees & Committee on Appointments, with notifications sent to appointed individuals throughout Spring 2025 for terms beginning July 1, 2025. Most member terms will extend through June 30, 2027.

Members can also express interest in serving as a Committee Chair (typically one-year appointments) or Committee Associate (see Associate guidelines here) in their applications.

Via the , members may also sign up to serve on four subcommittees or related groups of the Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services (ODLOS) Advisory Committee. Please note that appointment dates and process for ODLOS groups may vary, and the ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵPresident-elect does not appoint these members. You can direct questions about the ODLOS groups to diversity@ala.org.

Throughout the year, opportunities to join newly formed committees, working groups, and task forces may become available. Please watch ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵNews, AL Direct, and the Member community in ÂÜÀòÍøÊÓƵConnect for notifications of these opportunities as they arise (or indicate interest in ongoing consideration on the volunteer form).
